      NHS nurses to receive a 5% pay increase over the next three years


News Presenter: Secretary of state for health Jeremy Hunt has announced that NHS Nurses will receive a 5% pay increase over the next three years. The increase is a sign that the UK is moving further out of recession and is the first proposal to be implemented as part of the government’s radical overhaul of the National Health Service
Dorothy Curtis, Head of the Royal college of Nursing, the largest nursing union in the UK expressed delights at the announcement and is looking forward to the proposed changes in the health service
(VOX POP) Dorothy Curtis: It has been a long time coming but my members are delighted with the news. This really is a just reward for the important work nurses do across the country. The government’s proposals will ensure that the UK’s health service remains the best in the world.
